Description
I based this dragon off one of my favorite paintings, 'The Starry Night' by Van Gogh. There are various splashes of blues in oodles of tones travelling the body of the dragon with almost floral looking yellow stars in various places.
I thought it would be great to add this sort of color and motion to the body of one of my little clay dragons! It's fun the way the body of the dragon becomes a 3D canvas, the forms of the clay body completely influence the flow of the artwork on it.
This dragon took quite a bit of work to do! Each individual color you see was hand shaped and placed individually on the dragon's body.
Dimensions of the dragon are approximately 3.5" x 3" x 3.5"

THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!! I know I'm late, but sculpting the shape of a dragon while making it look right can already be hard. but figuring out the patterns and flow of the starry night can be much harder than anyone realizes!! This looks like it was well cared for in every second of work, and the efforts paid off!! this is a gorgeous baby and I'm glad it turned out so well!
